The Big 12's Top Incoming Transfers
A healthy helping of talent is coming into the Big 12 via the transfer portal in 2025.
We’ve explored returning production across the Big 12, and here now, on opening day, we take a look at the transfer talent coming into the conference.
For reference, here’s our look at returning production at the plate, and here’s a look at returning production on the mound.
Transfer production analysis will take the same approach, calculating WAR for incoming hitters and WARc for incoming pitchers. The question is, how do we account for the difference in competition level across D1, D2, D3 and JUCO?
Production at those levels isn’t necessarily equal, so for all WAR calculations, I’ve applied a weighing system based on level of competition. D1 transfers receive a multiplier of 1, JUCO slightly less, and D2/D3 a little less than JUCO.
Here’s where we landed:
Hitters
Pitchers
There’s a lot to process here, but overall it looks like the Big 12 was able to pull a significant amount of JUCO talent into the league.
How that translates into wins is yet to be seen this season.
