BASE|12 is a Substack dedicated to Big 12 baseball stats, analysis and storylines.

Stats: I’ll be exploring what it looks like to accurately calculate WAR at the collegiate level, using the Big 12’s talent pool to do so. An explainer is coming later this week with an early look at my approach based on 2024 stats for current Big 12 teams.

Analysis: Beyond the numbers, real games will be played! I’ll talk about the winners and losers, and the in-game decisions that lead to wins and losses across the conference.

Storylines: Sports are more fun when you feel connected to the teams and players, so we’ll focus on the stories, the milestones and the moments that make Big 12 baseball, and college baseball, special.
